A shower is the hardest-working tile in the house. Every one I build starts with a proper waterproofing system, a floor pitched to drain, and a layout planned so the pattern lands where your eye goes. Then the details: recessed niches, floating benches, linear drains, and grout lines that line up wall to floor.

02Service
A great floor disappears: no lippage, no hollow spots, no cracked grout a year later. I flatten the substrate before anything else, use leveling systems on large-format tile, and can install electric radiant heat under it so it is warm in February.

03Service
A backsplash is small, but it is the tile you look at every day at eye level. I plan the layout so cuts land symmetrically, outlets are trimmed clean, and the finish edge is either a matching bullnose, a metal profile, or a mitered edge, whichever suits the tile.
